Extra virgin olive oil + water = a bad combo?

I am starting to take extra virgin olive oil in the morning and afternoon.
Now I know that you must take 1 tbsp on an empty stomach, but the taste of it makes me want to gag. So i drink at least a cup or two of water to get rid of the after taste. But im wondering, will that affect the olive oil?
Meaning will drinking the water after swallowing olive oil interfer with the purpose that olive oil is suppose to be doing when cleaning out my system to help loose weight?
